Due to a short week, we will be having our Spelling Test on Thursday.
Taylor Swift Webcast!
On Wednesday, the 2nd grade will be participating in a Webcast featuring Taylor Swift! She is going to speak to students from all over the country about the importance of Literacy. She will also be answering questions that have been submitted by classrooms, so we are hoping to hear her answer ours! This is a Live event that will occur at 1pm on Wednesday, October 27th.
A.S.K. Videoconference
We will be having our first Videoconference this Tuesday, October 26th. This Videoconference is called a Authors, Specialist and Knowledge event that is literature based. We read the stories Adventures at Walnut Grove: A Lesson about Teasing and I Double Dare You. We will be interviewing the author, Dana Lehman, with two other classes (Mars Elementary and Brandywine Elementary). We have read the book twice through and have collected about 10-15 questions that we will be asking her. Monday, we will be preparing ourselves with how to behave during Videoconferences and practice enunciating our questions. Students will be asking the questions in pairs or groups of 3. Ask your student how it went after school on Tuesday!
Halloween Party
The Halloween Party will follow the Halloween Parade which will begin at 2pm. Students should NOT wear their costume to school. We will change into costumes after lunch at about 1:40ish. Please contact me if you would like to help out at the party!
Clorox Wipes Donations
We clean our classroom every Friday to stop the spread of germs as much as possible. If you would like to donate Clorox Wipes (or any off-brand version) to our classroom, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Book It Minutes Due Soon
Book It Minutes should be totaled, signed by a parent and turned in on Monday, November 1st. Those that read for 300 minutes or more during the month of October will receive a certificate for a free personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut! A new reading log for the month of November will go home that same Monday.
Math Timed Test
We took our second Timed Test on Friday. Once these are graded, I will mark if the score this time was their BEST(a star), or they did better a previous time (a check.) Students should be practicing their fact triangles at home and memorizing their addition facts. Those that complete all 100 facts in 5 minutes will begin a subtraction timed test instead.
