Friday is Orange and Blue Day for Homecoming! Students are encouraged to wear Orange and Blue to show their Bridgman spirit :) The traveling Pep Assembly will be visiting BES at 1:05. Go Bees!
The routine of Math Homework will be starting on Tuesday this week. On most Mondays through Thursdays (some Fridays) your second grader will have a Math Home Link page which should be completed and returned the next day. These pages reflect what we did in class that day for Math.
Every night, it is your student's responsibility to read for AT LEAST 15 minutes. On the weekends they can choose if they want to read Friday, Saturday or Sunday. At least one of those days is what I would expect. It is their choice what book they will read each night. IF they want to choose a book from our classroom library, they are welcome to do that at the end of the day. They just need to make sure they "check it out" with me first. I also told students that it is up to them and their parents if they want to read aloud or silently to themselves. Your students are definitely at that Independent Reading stage where they really enjoy reading to themselves:) It may be nice to switch it up every other day so you can get the best of both worlds. Yet, I told them if they are going to "cozy up" somewhere in the house and read to themselves, to let you know so that you can stop by every now and then to check on them! So far, students have been doing great with this homework! I give stickers every day for completion.
Math Unit 1 Test
We will be taking our first Math test on Unit 1 this Thursday. On Wednesday we will be reviewing things such as Number Grid Patterns, Money, and Relations. Your second grader will bring home a page on Wednesday of the items we reviewed for the test.
Have a great week!
