Nursing Home/Winter Drive Donations
If you would like to contribute to our class gift to six lovely ladies residing at Country Manor in South Lyon, please send in by Tuesday, December 18th.
Salem Student Council is also taking donations of new hats, gloves, and new/gently used boots. Send in these items by December 19th.
'Tis the season for giving :)
Winter Break: Small Moment Listl
Your student will be bringing home a Small Moment page to list activities done over break, if interested. This will be helpful during Writer's Workshop when we return. We will keep these in our Writer's Workshop folders to look back at when we need "small moment ideas." Not sure what a Small Moment is? Ask your First Grader! They are professionals ;)
Spirit Days
Monday: Sport Day, Tuesday: Crazy Hair Day, Wednesday: PJ Day, Thursday: 80's Day, Friday: Holiday Colors Day
Reading @ Home Tip of the Week
When your First Grader gets "stuck" on a word, first count to 5, then ask: Would you like help or more time? If they ask for help, ask them what they have tried so far and go from there. If they say time, just be patient! Step in when you think they have had 30 seconds or more of "thinking time".
Happy Birthday to Caden on Monday!
