Learning Target Rubric
Throughout the day, students are given feedback from myself, but also rate their own understanding by using our schoolwide 1-4 rubric scale:
1 - This is tricky for me.
2- I need some help.
3- I understand.
4- I understand AND I can tell you more.
As your first grader completes homework, have them rate their understanding as well to give you a better sense of reaching certain learning targets. This can be done verbally, written, or simply by a display of fingers :)
The Great Poetry Race
We have completed our last and final week of The Great Poetry Race. The winner is...Allison! Check out/comment on her reading and our past winners (Ashlyn & Ella) on KidBlog:

Wallwisher Topic of the Week: Thinking Interdependently
Have your student (or you) share a time when you needed to cooperate with a small group in order to accomplish as task. Join the conversation! http://padlet.com/wall/5z2ru2yn3b
KidBlog Comment Topic: Solids and Liquids
To conclude our Solids and Liquids unit, I will be having students comment on a post by me. I am asking students to use their knowledge of Solid and Liquid Properties to play a little guessing game. This will be good practice of replying to others' comments as well :) Be creative!
Happy Birthday to Nick on Saturday!
