Salem Elementary collects batteries, ink cartridges, and cell phones for recycling. In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, this is a reminder for families that they are welcome to send in these items for recycling to help do our part to take care of our Earth!
Spelling Test Fail...
On Friday, we tried to be ambitious and take our Spelling Test on Spelling City via the Chromebooks. Well, the internet was not our friend and this resulted in more frustration than success. Therefore, we did not take a Spelling Test on Friday. There is always next time!
DRA Assessments
It's that time of year to get ready for report cards! Since I will be meeting one on one with students(instead of small groups) to assess DRA scores (reading), your student may get their NEW reading bag books an little later than normal... I will do my best to do a quick switch with them. Thanks for understanding!
KidBlog: Is it Spring Yet?
If you haven't seen them yet, check out our most recent KidBlog posts on if we think it is Spring yet or not. Students had some great thinking on whether it feels, looks, and sounds like Spring yet. This is a great introduction to our upcoming Weather unit!

The Great Poetry Race
April is Poetry Month! We will be reading poetry as well as creating our own poetry. One special project is The Great Poetry Race which will be a friendly competition of reading poetry to family and friends. A note will be coming home this week so stay tuned and get ready to get your poetry on!
Earth Day Padlet
Join the conversation! This month the Padlet will be dedicated to Earth Day. We will discuss how to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle to help our Earth. It would be helpful if you took the time to have your students post a response to add to our group discussions. Family members are also welcome to post if you would like!
