This week your First Grader will begin with homework. As explained at Curriculum Night, homework will be sent home every Monday and will be due on Friday. The weekly homework is listed on the right sight of the blog. as an additional reference for you.
Spelling Test on Friday
Spelling words will always be part of the weekly homework so that you are aware of them. We practice these at school, but it would be helpful to practice at home with your student as well. If you would like, we have our First Grade words on Spelling City which is a "fun" way for your student to practice their words. The link can be found on the Students page.
The link is: https://www.spellingcity.com/salemfirst/ (We are on list 1a).
Learning Targets on Twitter & Facebook
I have begun posting our Daily Learning Targets on Twitter and Facebook. These serve as a wonderful tool to communicate with your First Grader about what they are learning/progressing towards. So for those times when you ask your First Grader what they did at school, and they say "nothing" you can respond with, "It looks like your Learning Target for Math was: I can describe growing patterns, tell me about it." I would love to hear how you incorporate these at home as well!
Classroom Wishlist
Our classroom wishlist is posted all year on Pinterest:

A few things that we are in *high* need for are:
- dry erase markers
- black socks (used for erasers with whiteboards)
Have a great week!
