One of the ways we reinforce responsibility in the classroom is by students showing me they have done reading at home. The best way for me to know this is by an adult filling in their reading log every night with: the book(or books) they read and a parent/adult's initials. I check these daily and place stickers to show that I have seen this. Also, students earn a "clip up" in the morning by having this filled in. Please help support this by filling in each night your student reads. Keep in mind that this can be the books I send home in their reading bags OR a book of choice from home. The best way a student can truly enjoy reading is by letting THEM choose what books they would like to read that night for about 20 minutes. Happy Reading!
Popcorn Money
It would be helpful to send your First Grader's popcorn money into school in some kind of baggie/envelope so it doesn't get lost. When students lose their quarters I don't have extras to replace them and it can be a tough way to start the morning :( Thanks for your help with this!
Nut Allergy
As I said in an earlier blog post, we do have a Nut Allergy in our classroom. It is not necessary for you to have your student bring in a Nut Free snack. Yet, it would be helpful if when you send in birthday treats or something else that is meant for the whole class (extra snacks, etc) to make sure they labeled as Nut Free. This will ensure that all students can have them. Thanks!
Have a great week!
