Did you take the time to chat with your First Grader about their Report Card? It's beneficial for parents and children to have a positive and constructive discussion after getting the report card to open up communication about their academic/habits of mind progress. Ask your student how they think they did and why. This would be a great time to have them reflect with the 1-4 learning target scale! *Please return and sign the EMPTY report card envelopes*
The Great Poetry Race Week 2
The second week of The Great Poetry Race was fun! I hope that you are enjoying listening to your First Grader read the poem of the week to you and that you noticed how they got better each time it was read aloud :) Our winners from Week 2 were: 1st Place-Presley, 2nd Place-Summer, and 3rd Place-Will! You can listen to them read by going to the padlet posted on our classroom homepage. This will be our FINAL week for the Great Poetry Race :)
Passion Projects
You should have received an email from me about your First Grader's Passion Project. They may begin bringing in supplies this week. They must fit in their backpack or a bag the size of a paper grocery bag. Students will be working on their projects during some Morning Work times, Choice Times, and some Friday afternoons for the next few weeks :) I am excited to see what they create and we look forward to sharing with families!
Happy Birthday to Will on April 24th!
