Music Informance
The concert will be on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 pm in the South Lyon East HS Auditorium. Please have your child arrive to his/her meeting place at 6:15pm. First graders will meet in the band room and 2nd graders will meet in the choir room. Both rooms are in the hallway to the right as you enter SLEHS at the auditorium.
Students are not expected to wear any particular costume or colors for this program. Any neat school clothes or dressy outfits will do, but please ensure that performers are wearing low-heeled shoes that fit securely. Your child will be standing (and moving!) on risers and we want everyone to be safe and comfortable. See you Wednesday!
Field Day: Cirque Amongus
This year the PTO is excited to bring Cirque Amongus to Salem for our field day. This is an all-day event on Tuesday, June 13th and we need a lot of volunteers to make this exciting experience a success – it takes at least 4 – 5 volunteers per class at a minimum to make this work. In the past we have been able to use volunteers for just the morning portion or just the afternoon portion but do to the structure of the day we really need volunteers that can help us all day. There is a training meeting on Monday, June 12th from 6:00 – 8:00pm in the gym to train all of the parent volunteers on how to use the circus equipment. All volunteers must do the volunteer background check that can be found at slcs.us
If you would like to volunteer and need another form, please let me know!

Passion Project
Something exciting is happening in our First Grade classroom! Last week I introduced your First Graders to the word *Passion* and about creating a Passion Project. We started with creating Heart Maps which got students thinking about what they love to do, what they are good at, and what interests them. We also listened to the story of 9-year-old Caine Monroy who created his own Passion Project of a cardboard arcade! (http://cainesarcade.com) Stay tuned for more information on this exciting endeavor we will be taking on these last few weeks of school :)
