We will be having our second round of Measures of Academic Progress testing done this week and next week. The students will be taking 3 tests: Math, Reading and Language. The scores your student has received this time and from last time (January) will be shared with you so that you will see how your student has grown in the past few months on a larger scale. This week, we will be taking the Language portion on Monday afternoon and the Reading portion on Wednesday morning. Please make sure your student has had a big healthy breakfast to wake up their brain and to help them do their personal best!
Human Footprint
Last week, our class discussed a lot about our "Human Footprint." We watched a special that was on the National Geographic Channel that showed us the big picture of how much milk we drink in a lifetime. Students were quite shocked as this news! From there, students were able to go to a link on our classroom website titled Human Footprint and calculate for themselves how much milk, bread and other items they use in a lifetime. We discussed how important it is to make your human footprint smaller and this will in turn help the Earth. I hope they learned a lot and that some even may cut down on their water usage!
WebQuest
On Thursday, we had the netbooks in the classroom for a large portion of the day. Students were given a "webquest" that I put together to have them visit specific sites on our classroom website. I had them bring this page home so that you can see what things we were working on in class. I hope that they go back to those sites if given the opportunity at home :)
