On Friday we will be having our Unit 3 Review Spelling Test. Students were given this list 2 Fridays ago. Good Luck! Since we had two weeks to practice I expect OUTSTANDING performance on them :)
At Home Spelling Practice Options
I mentioned about a week ago to the students how important it is for them to practice Spelling words at home since we do not always get time in class to practice. If we do, it should be considered as "extra" practice. Here is a list of some things you can do at home with your student to help them prepare for Spelling Tests:
(Take this opportunity to have your student TEACH you what each of these methods are.)
1. SpellingCity.com - There is a link from our classroom website to bring you to a page I have setup with our Spelling List for the week. There are a variety of games that make practicing Spelling fun!
2. Rainbow Words
3. Boat Words
4. Pyramid Words
5. Bubble Letters
6. Upper (consonants) and Lower (vowels)
Our New Home
On Tuesday, students will be in Mrs. Nichols (3rd Grade) classroom which is across the hall from our new classroom. I will be in our new classroom unpacking and setting up the room while the students are with a substitute. Wednesday, is our first official day in our NEW classroom. Remember, this is NOT the classroom we were in at the beginning of the school year. Ms. Jewell and I swapped rooms so that 3rd grade is all together, and 2nd grade is all together. Our new classroom number is Room 150. It is right next door to our old room, 149. We are SO excited to have a final home for the rest of the school year :)
Read Around the Planet
On Wednesday we will be participating in a Video Conference called Read Around the Planet. This is a project in which classrooms all over the U.S.A. are participating to bring awareness for the upcoming March is Reading Month. We will be VC-ing with a class from New York. We will tell them some information about where we live and then perform a Readers' Theater to the Dr. Seuss book "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut." We have been practicing for a little over a week now and they have been doing fabulous! We will also get a chance to answer and ask questions with our VC class. Ask your student how it went after school on Wednesday!
Happy Birthday to Kody on Monday!
