This Friday I will be quizzing the students on their knowledge of the alphabet in American Sign Language! We have been practicing for quite a few weeks now and LOVE practicing our spelling words in this way. Certificates of accomplishment will be sent home for those that pass with 100%. Happy Signing!
The results from NWEA will be sent home this week. There are a few things I want to point out to you as you look them over. First of all, the purpose of this testing is to show student growth throughout the school year. When looking at your student scores, don't just look at the "Norm Group Avg" compared to your student. Look at how much progress they have made this school year! I am so proud of the success these students have made this school year :) Keep in mind that these tests are between 42-52 questions each, and can take students 30-60 minutes to complete. Just some things to ponder when looking at scores.
- S12/F11- This means Spring 2012 and Fall 2011. The bolded number is your student's score at this testing time.
- Reading Lexile Range- This can be helpful when choosing books for your student. I have a link on the Parents page where you can input your student's Lexile range and find "good-fit" books for them.
- Stars/Smiley Faces- If your child made Significant Growth (above Typical growth) I have a star for that test. If your student made growth I put a smiley face in that test area. Growth is what we want!
Muffins with Mom is this Thursday and Friday :)
Happy Birthday to Nurija on Saturday!
