This week we discussed and practiced Quality Comments. We learned that a comment can be: a compliment, a question, added information, or a connection made with the blogger! We have partnered up with another First Grade classroom in Jackson, MI which we will be reading and commenting with as well to increase our authentic audience!
In addition, please take a moment to look at the Class Blog Posts (by Mrs. Wilson) where you can see a Career Day Slideshow and our New Year Resolutions(Part 1 & 2). Parents and families are always welcome to stop by, read, and comment! Thanks for your support and I hope you are enjoying reading what we are blogging about :)

Empty Cereal Boxes Needed
We will be using empty cereal boxes to decorate and store our Valentines in the near future. Please send in any empty ones you may have! Also, I am looking for a volunteer that would be willing to come in the week of February 3-7 to cover the cereal boxes with white paper for us to be able to decorate them. Let me know if you are interested in this! Thanks.
Reading Bags Note
Since Report Cards are coming up, it's that time of year where I am working hard on completing DRAs (Developmental Reading Assessment). This ensures that I can give you an accurate and informative idea of where your student's current reading level is. Therefore, I will not be doing reading groups or switching their reading bag books out this week only. Thank you for your patience and understanding :)
Bring Your Own Headphones
Most students have brought in headphones and were able to utilize them this week in class as well as when we had the Chromebooks on Thursday. If you have not yet, it would be beneficial for your student to have an inexpensive pair in the classroom for their own use.
Disguise the Snowman Project
On Friday your student should have come home with a an informative note, writing page, and a snowman paper ready to be disguised! This is a fun, creative family project that we hope you enjoy. These do not need to be returned until Monday, January 27th. Have fun!
Happy 1/2 Birthday to Alvin on Sunday!
