Every Monday-Thursday we have students as our "Daily Readers" when we come in from recess and work in our journals. To do this, students just need to bring a book from home (that they are confident reading to the class) and let me know they want to be the Daily Reader! This is a great way to build community, fluency, and public speaking. Talk to your First Grader about being a Daily Reader as I would love to have everyone try it at least once :)
KidBlog Memo: Mystery Numbers & Snowmen Disguise
We were busy on KidBlog this week! First of all, I have begun posting the Disguised Snowmen with the student voices attached to the picture using an awesome app called "ChatterPix." Enjoy them and as always, we love your comments!
Also, we had the Chromebooks on Thursday and posted a "Mystery Number Challenge." Students picked a number and wrote out 3-4 clue to help the audience figure out the mystery number. This week we will be working on responding to these comments. Comment with a "yes or no" question and we will let you know if you have guessed our mystery numbers! Happy reading, thinking, and commenting!

Reading Chat: Text to Text
Last week we worked on Text to Self connections and I invited you to have this discussion with your First Grader while reading with them at home. This week we will be practicing Text to Text connections which is comparing books with each other by finding similarities and differences between them. Add this to your chat you have with your First Grader while listening to them read to you!
Happy Birthday to Charleigh on Saturday!
