Rubric Scores
As tests, quizzes, and in-class work comes home you may notice the numbers 1-4 posted at the top to show your student's understanding of the learning goal for that particular topic. These numbers will flow nicely with the report card scoring so I hope that you find them helpful. This is a friendly reminder of what those numbers mean in First Grade Language:
1-This is really tricky for me
2-I can do this if I have some help
3-I can do this
4-I can do this and I can tell you more
Halloween Party Volunteers/Donations
Mrs . Leith (Donnie’s Mom) and Mrs. Maguire (Charlie’s Mom) will be our Party Moms for this school year. We recently sent an email with information on the party and the link to Signup Genius for volunteer opportunities/donations. This link has also been posted on the Parents Page for our classroom website. Let us know if you are able to help and be a part of the party :)
Reading Log Stickers
Every morning I check student's reading logs to see what books they read the night before or who they read to. Stickers are given on reading logs and students clip up for showing me at-home responsibility. On Mondays when I check, some students have read 2-3 times over the weekend which is just awesome :) Yet, I only give one sticker for the weekend so please know that this is not going unrecognized. In addition, if there is a Guest Teacher, I do not leave instructions for them to give out stickers as this can be cumbersome for them to do in the morning when they are become acquainted with the students.
Does your First Grader Know How to...
-How to tie their shoes? (Have them prove it to me in class to become part of the Shoe Tying Club!)
-When their birthday is? (month, date, year)
-What their address is? (including city)
If not, these may be helpful to practice throughout the First Grade school year!
