I have invited your First Graders to begin bringing a book of choice from home that they would like to read to the class. On Tuesday-Thursday after Lunch/Recess, students have the opportunity to read to the class. This must be a book from home that they have read independently at least 1x before, that they feel confident with. These books will be placed in the Daily Reader Bin and will remain there until it is their day to read. If a student does not finish the book they are reading, they are welcome to be added back to the Daily Reader list to continue another time! This is a great way to build a strong reading community in our classroom and I look forward to seeing your student shine :)
Zoo $ and Permission Due October 5th
If you have not yet, please send in your First Grader's permission/money for our Field Trip to the Zoo. The cost is $7 per person ($5 for zoo, $2 for bus). If you are a Zoo Member, please note this on the permission slip but please remember to pay $2 per person for the bus cost. We are going to the Zoo on Wednesday, October 19 from 9:15 til 2pm. Let me know if you need another form sent home.
We have begun using the Chromebooks in the classroom for instruction J It would be helpful to send in a pair of headphones for your student to keep in their Rainbow Drawer for when we use them. We unfortunately do not have a classroom set for everyone to have a pair. Please send them in a labeled baggie for safe storage.
Conference Sign Up
If you were unable to sign up for November conferences at Curriculum Night, the signups will remain in the main hallway near the office for a few weeks. Please take the time to stop by and sign up so that we can chat about your awesome First Grader on November 15th or 17th. If you are unable to come into the school to do this, please contact me with your availability and I am happy to sign up for you.
Volunteer in the Classroom
If you have not gotten a chance yet to sign up to be a volunteer in the classroom, this will be the last week to pass along your availability for the year to me. In the next week or so I will send an email to those who have signed up and give you some options for volunteering :)
You can find the sign up on the Parent page of our classroom website: http://wilsonh.weebly.com/parents.html
If anything changes with your volunteer availability throughout the year, just get in contact with me!
If your student has a change in dismissal, please notify the office EARLY in the day. End of day can be very stressful in the office and by letting all parties know in advance, the easier we get out the door :) Also, if you choose to email please make sure to send the email to Mrs. Jose (email@example.com) and Mrs. Carrel (CARRELA@slcs.us), along with myself! This way in case any of us happen to be out of the building that day, the message is still received. Thanks so much!
