Collecting Reading Bags & Books
I will be collecting reading bags and reading group books from students on Friday. Therefore, they will not be bringing books home and to school everyday. I will still be checking reading logs everyday to keep that consistency for students. This is a great transition time to make sure your student is still reading every day even though they will not have books from me to bring home. If you are lacking books at home during the last few weeks of school and would like some to borrow please let me know and I would be happy to send some home for your student.
LAST Scholastic Book Order & Book Fair
It's a great time to stock up on books for the summer! The Salem book fair is going on until Friday AND we have our last book order of the year due this Friday, May 22.
Passion Project
Something exciting is happening in our First Grade classroom! Last week I introduced your First Graders to the word *Passion* and about creating a Passion Project. We started with creating Heart Maps which got students thinking about what they love to do, what they are good at, and what interests them. We also listened to the story of 9-year-old Caine Monroy who created his own Passion Project of a cardboard arcade! (http://cainesarcade.com) Please check your email for more information on this exciting endeavor we will be taking on these last few weeks of school :)
