On Friday, students will be able to change into costumes after lunch. Therefore, please do not send your child to school with their costume on.
*A note from Mr. Metcalf:
"Please do not allow your child to wear masks, or anything that covers the face so that children are not recognizable. We also ask that accessories that are weapons or weapon-like are not brought into the school. Finally, blood and/or gore of any type is not permitted. These are family events and we ask that all is kept light-hearted and safe. We ask that adult costumes follow the same guidelines."
Here is a schedule of how Friday will run:
1:30--> Change into costumes
2:00--> Parade in Gym (families welcome)
2:30- 3:30--> Party in classroom
3:30--> Cleanup/prepare for dismissal
Reading Log Stickers
Every morning I check student's reading logs to see what books they read the night before. Stickers are given on reading logs and students clip up for showing me at-home responsibility. On Mondays when I check, some students have read 2-3 times over the weekend which is just awesome :) Yet, I only give one sticker for the weekend so please know that this is not going unrecognized. In addition, if there is a Guest Teacher, I do not leave instructions for them to give out stickers as this can be cumbersome for them to do in the morning when they are become acquainted with the students.
We have been going on the Chromebooks about once a week and it has been getting noisy when we listen to reading! So, if possible it would be wonderful for you to send in headphones for your First Grader to keep in a safe place in the classroom. This way, they have thier own headphones available to cut down on noise and increase student engagement with stories. Please send in a labeled bag so they do not get lost or mixed up with another student.
We are running low on extra morning snacks in the classroom for those days when we may forget to bring one in. If you are able to, we will accept Nut-Free and individually packaged snacks. Thanks so much in advance!
