Our focus this month is: Respect. We will be exploring the Habits of Mind of managing impulsivities and Listening with understanding and empathy. Follow our classroom happenings on Twitter/Facebook to see how we practice these :)
As part of a future Science Unit about Weather, Groundhog Day will prepare us for tracking the weather over the next few weeks. We will be looking at the cloud cover and temperature and decide at the end if the Groundhog was correct! You can help by watching the news on Tuesday morning to see if the Groundhog saw his shadow (6 more weeks of winter) or not (early spring!).
Reading Response Page
Starting this week, your child will be coming home with a little something extra in their reading bag, a reading comprehension worksheet. This worksheet will cover various topics that help students organize their thoughts while reading and help them understand the text. Some of this worksheet will be filled out during our reading groups, but the rest will be sent home to complete. These worksheets should be kept in their reading bags and I will collect them when I meet with their groups the following week. Thanks for your support with our growing readers!
Stars & Wishes
Your First Grader will be bringing home a How To writing piece they have been working on since December! They have put a lot of hard work into this and are SO excited to share with you :) I ask that you return the Stars and Wishes page attached as I like to see your thinking about your student's writing pieces. Enjoy having them read their piece of work to you!
Report Cards will go home with your First Grader on Wednesday. Please sign and return the envelope. Everything inside is yours!
Happy Birthday to Addison on January 31st!
